Blogging & SEO: An Old Dog’s Guide

You're probably thinking "Shawn, what is this all about - you're young - you know all the new trends!?"; that's only half true. I've been coding websites as long as I can remember, and things have changed drastically. I've been able to easily snag #1 result on Google and related engines, but that was over 5 years ago. 5 years isn't much to any average Joe, but when it comes to technology it can seem like a lifetime.
- Try to remember when tabled layouts were more than acceptable!
The "New Web" is cluttered with social networks - and this is great - but it can prove very difficult to optimize anything for search engines. Everything has become what you could call "organic". It's not longer focused on hits or links, it's focused on content and interest. Hits and links still play a key role, but the old "link spamming" tactics don't work anymore.
Let me guide you through some key points to help bring your website recognition!
New Work In Progress
I'm quite excited to say I've been cracking down on alot of code these past two days. I can be quite messy at times, so I created some nice scripts and cron jobs to help me share the latest and greatest of my projects.
You can go ahead and check out my "dev" directory.

The new directory automatically packages "snapshots" of my current progress every hour for download. Be sure to check the latest update to my AJAx Framework, major changes are in progress.
Enjoy!

Panasonic GH1 DSLR

I've been really looking towards investing in a Panasonic GH1 Digital SLR camera. It's definitely a step up from the Canon Rebel t1i, D7, and D5 MKII, having amazing video capability. You can shoot standard 1080p video at 24fps or 720p video at 60fps, the quality is astounding!
Considering this camera is nearly half the price of similar models, and the stock lens kit is such high quality...this is quite a camera!

Thank you Google!
My latest revision to my AJAX "framework" has been a success! Google has actually managed to scan and cache Neotelos.com, which is entirely powered by my AJAX navigation framework.
This may not sound like much to the average person, but this is a major advancement in my work.
I plan to have new and exciting uses of this feature in the near future.
Really Busy!
I feel like I should be posting something with more value, but I'll admit I've been slacking. I've been quite busy promoting for DeadAudio, amongst my other day-to-day schedule.
I'd like to have some more feedback on my blog, it's getting tedious when it seems you lack an audience. XP
Karma
I strongly believe in Karma, it's like the Yin and Yang of events. The entire concept of Yin and Yang applies to much of life and science.
I finally believe Karma may be catching up to me; in a positive sense. While my life hasn't really been terrible, it's been far from ideal. I've lived and continue to live through difficulties that few can imagine from a person such as myself; I wish not to get into detail, but leave things brief and hope you to trust my judgment. I'm still dealing with common day-to-day drama but things are going quite positively overall.
Most people recognize negative experiences over positive, being the reason many discredit Karma. One must look at their life from third-person with a positive outlook and good things may come from the bad. I truly believe many individuals fail to do such, thus fail at harnessing Karma for their own benefit.
Is Life Short?
I never seemed to notice life passing until recently. I've entered the prime of my life, yet it seems like the beginning; it's a strange sensation, but it makes you think about the longevity of ones lifespan.
I keep thinking how much time has been "wasted" on school, when the skills and learning can be obtained much faster through other means of education. I started making websites before I was even in High School, imagine if all the resources I have now would have been provided then.
You can only imagine what greatness can come from a more reformed education, yet I would say most people can only live life only to be "content" in the end with very limited claim on accomplishment. It's really something to thing about.
Thinking…
I've been getting busier than ever with some classes starting. I seems like I have so much, yet so little to do. Rather ironic feeling, nevertheless; I must get some things done.
I've done some more work on ForceCrystal.com, but I think it's time to start setting my focus back on track with the new DJ DeadAudio website.
So here's my little to-do list:
- DJ DeadAudio website
- Finish changes to Neotelos.com
- Start grinding on ZipShout.com
Sounds easy...when you don't have tons of other things going on. XP
Welcome!
Hey, my name's Shawn. I just finished setting up this-here blog to share and express thoughts and feelings towards just about anything my scattered mind thinks of.
I just finished setting up a website for a friend of mine, probably my record breaker getting a professional, fully functional, website in 2 days! If you want to check it out, it's called Force Crystal. It's basically a community to talk about Star Wars at any maturity level you like.
So I've been thinking about getting a Vinyl cutter for more random print projects, what do you all think?
